Be sustainableis to propose the emergence of new human beings, able to develop in harmony with their natural and social environment.
It is a paradigm shift where the human being stop thinking about excessive consumption to star thinking about recycling, reusing and reducing. It is the result of a deep psychological and motional shift, which allows to appreciate a complete picture of their actions and consequences, including their health, safety and the way they treat other people and the environment. In this way, we inexorably conclude that taking a sustainable action does not mean doing the right thing but the only way to do things.
Since 2016 we started working in a cross project involving every Organization area and operation, which allows to align the sustainability strategy and the CSR programmes in every company and country where our company operates. The project consists of promoting a “Sustainable Citizen”, seen from an insurance company point of view. For that purpose, we suggest that, through their behaviour, each person reaches the following five variables: insurance and forward-looking awareness; a strong prevention culture; a healthy lifestyle; ethics and integrity in their actions and care for the evironment.
In this sense we reduced the number of accidents, frauds, deaths, diseases, arreas, judicial situations, expenses and generated welfare, safety and solidarity with people, creating economic, social and environmental value for society.
From this programme emerges our institutional campaign “Ser Sustentable” (Be sustainable), oriented to teach the citizen that sustainability does not only mean “green” or is related to the environment, it goes further including issues such as ethics, respect, non-violence, decent work, health, prevention, among others.
We found out that there is no difference between what a person can do and what a company can do. We understood that there is another way of being sustainable. Another way of being human. And that person can be you.
